Leading the Change

Assalamualaikum, hope you guys are having a great day.

Did you know that if you are sending one email, it is 1 of the 165 billion sent everyday? Did you know that India's major export is no longer Gems and Jewelry? It's now human capital. The 25% of India's population with highest IQ's, is greater than the total population of the United State. Did you know that the top 10 in-demand jobs in 2010, did not exist in 2004?

What does this means? It's means the world are changing. Changing on a rapid pace. So, we have to keep up with the pace if not we are going to be left behind. Nowadays people are talking about transformation and innovation. We are preparing our future generation for jobs that don't yet exist, using technologies that haven't been invented, in order to solve problems we don't even know yet. John P. Kotter once written in his book titled Leading Change; "the rate of change is not going to slow down anytime soon. If anything, competition in most industries will probably speed up even more in the next few decades."

So, the question now is how to change? Here are the quick review of John P. Kotter's 8-Steps Change Model:

  1. Create Urgency
  2. Form a powerful Coalition
  3. Create a vision for change
  4. Communicate the vision
  5. Remove obstacles
  6. Create short-terms wins
  7. Build on the change
  8. Anchor the change in corporate culture
Let's start changing to a brighter and successful life. Like Bryan Tracy once written in his book; "change your thinking, change your life"
