GREAT Leadership: Walk The Talk

     Assalamualaikum..Hey leaders, are you feeling that your people are always doubting you? Or, they “half-heartedly” trust you? Do they always take for granted all your sayings? Hurmm.. In being a GREAT leader, the principle of “Walk the talk” is indeed crucial. This is one of the elements that boosts your character and charisma as a GREAT leader. It portrays your integrity and the real you among your people. Have you heard this expression of “Walk the talk”? It simply means do what you say.

     Guess what? Your people are looking for someone to be copied. And as a GREAT leader, you have to be that someone! Going back to childhood, as we watched cartoon on TV, we felt like being the heroes in the show. We copied everything about them, their moves, talk, and skills. It’s the same thing with your people.  As you are on the top, people view you as role model. They are watching you closely, every single thing about you, and even assimilate the way you deal with your stuff. Cool right? But most leaders do not realize this reality.

     Therefore, one way of being a GREAT role model to your people is to start walk the talk.  Not tomorrow, not next week, now! If you want them to show high performance behavior, you yourself have to be highly enthusiastic. You want your people to be punctual, you have to be punctual. You want them to respect you, you have to respect them. You want them to be creative in their stuff, demonstrate first your creativity. Don't just tell, but act. Action speaks louder than word. It’s a simple rule.

     And, for Muslim, remember this verse in Surah As Saff “O ye who believe! Why say ye that which ye do not? It is most hateful in the sight of Allah that ye say that which ye do not.” Demonstrate with yourself what you want from them. Eventually, you will see that the whole people want to be like you. I bet you also have your own icons and want to be like them, right? So, from now on, walk the talk. It preserves your integrity, heighten your charisma. Be a GREAT leader. All the best ,guys!
